DEGREE OF COMPARISON
Definisi : kalimat perbandingan.
Pengertian : adalah kalimat deskriptif yang memiliki tingkat-tingkat perbandingan yang berfungsi untuk menerangkan kata bendanya.
Bentu degree of comparison dalam kata sifat terdiri stas tiga golongan, yaitu :
a. Possitive Degree
Digunakan untuk membandingkan benda atau orang yang sama, baik bentuk, sikap, maupun kecakapannya.
Rumus :
| as + Positive Degree + as |
Exemple :
· He is as tall as his brother.
· They are as intelligent as I am
b. Comparative Degree
Digunakan untuk membandingkan dua benda atau orang yang berbeda. Dan dapat juga menyatakan benda tersebut memiliki sifat “lebih” atau “kurang”.
Rumus :

v Untuk satu suku kata menggunakan -er
| -er...than |
v Untuk menyatakan lebih menggunakan More
| More...than |
v Untuk menyatakan kurang menggunakan less
| Less...than |
Exemple :
· Jim older tan Jane.
· The book is more expensive than the pen.
· This magazine less expensive than the doll.
c. Superlative Degree
Digunakan untuk membandingkan tiga benda atau lebih. Dan dapat juga menyatakan bahwa benda tersebut memiliki sifat “paling/ter”.
Rumus :

Atau
| The + Superlative Degree +of |
v Untuk satu suku kata menggunakan -est
| The...-est |
v Untuk menyatakan paling menggunakan most
| The most... |
v Untuk menyatakan ter menggunakan least
| The least... |
Exemple :
· The building the highest building in this town.
· This test is the most difficult test I have ever know.
· This pen is the least expensive of all.
Bentuk perubahan dari Positive Degree ke Comparative Degree ke Superlative Degree.
